Abundance and gratitude
I am in the middle of a very busy time here in Scarborough. So in writing to you this week I thought I'd just say a few words and share some images from the wonderful north east coast of Yorkshire.
What glorious sunny weather we've been having. What a delight it has been to take time off in nature. Everything in the natural world is springing into such abundance.
On a visit one day to Bempton, my favourite bird cliffs, the gannets had claimed their nest sites and were very busy with nest building. Meanwhile thousands of kittiwakes were still establishing their breeding spots. The kittiwakes formed a spectacle on the day I visited, several hundreds, possibly thousands, tumbling in synchrony off the cliffs to form wondrous moving patterns in the air and on the sea. This movement of huge flocks on and off the cliffs is typical early in the breeding season. Like a kaleidoscope of silvery white dots twisting and turning in waves against the deep blue sky. And then moving in synchrony on the water, to form their own breaking waves. Breathtaking to watch.

On another walk, this time on the cliffs just south of Scarborough, I was delighted by the delicate white blossom of hawthorn and buckthorn, and the bright yellow flowers of gorse.

This week's self-kindness invitation is to notice the abundance around you and in your life, in whatever form that takes. And then tune into your gratitude for and appreciation of the gifts this offers you. We are blessed in so many ways. Sometimes our minds can have a tendency to focus on the negative. It's a deep self-kindness to create space for and give time to our gratitude for all the good things in our lives.
Go well.
In warmth and kindness
Barbara
