Light, Beauty, and the Magic of Nature

November 05, 20251 min read

Today’s reflection is short and simple, with a theme of light, beauty, and the magic and mystery of Nature and the Universe.

This week, I have much appreciated the light at moments when the clouds lifted sunshine during the day and moonlight at night. Sunlight always highlights beauty in Nature, while moonlight has its own quiet magic, particularly welcome as the nights grow longer.

By amazing timing, this mail reaches you on the day of November’s full moon. And it’s a special one. It is a ‘supermoon,’ when the moon is at its closest to Earth, making it the brightest of the three supermoons this year. It will appear fourteen percent bigger and thirty percent brighter than the faintest moon of the year, rising just before sunset. I hope the clouds allow you to see it imagine it rising out of the sea, one of Nature’s many wonders.

I love dwelling in the magic of sun and moon. Sometimes this is from home, when a beam of sunlight lands on a favourite picture or statue and dances. One night this week, I went to sleep with moonlight on my pillow, feeling deeply blessed. Outdoors, with air on my face and feet on the earth or sand, it feels wonderful. My camera captured the sun’s amazing rays on a cliff walk, and another day, the moon rising against the sky at sunset as I walked on the beach. Simply beautiful.

This week’s self-kindness invitation is to give yourself time to dwell with the beauty of the moon and sun. Allow feelings of gratitude for the blessing of light in your life, both physical and metaphorical. Such a gift.
