Mindfulness and self-kindness

July 08, 20261 min read

Today's is a short mailing. Times are quite busy for me. But Nature constantly reminds me of the gifts of mindfulness and being in the moment.

The habits of the human mind mean that we are often focussed on the past or the future. It is so easy for our human minds to become lost in thought and walk along in a kind of dream like state, where we miss the beauty right there before us. Bringing ourselves back to 'the here and now' is a great self-kindness.

Nature is well into the abundance of summer now. Young birds are fledging. Crops are ripening in the fields. Nature speaks of fecundity. With our long days we have plenty of time to enjoy the wondrous variety of displays the sky presents us with too. Sunrises, sunsets, cloud formations, iridescent clouds. The beauty of the skies recently has often caused me to stop in my tracks and just gaze up in awe.

This week's self-kindness invitation is to consciously bring yourself back to the present moment when you notice your mind is elsewhere, and take some time to enjoy the world around you. It can offer your senses a treat!

Go well.

In warmth and kindness

Barbara
